Robert Leroy Harris

Funeral services for Robert “Bob” Leroy Harris of Lovell will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15 at Haskell Funeral Home in Lovell with Pastor Doug Rumsey of Antelope Valley Baptist Church officiating.
Mr. Harris passed away Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, at North Big Horn Hospital in Lovell.
Bob was born Oct. 14. 1936, in Jackson Hole to Herbert and Roxie Faye (Miller) Harris. He was one of 18 children.
He grew up in Jackson Hole leaving school in the eighth grade at the age of 14. He worked for his father at Harris Lumber Co. in Jackson Hole. He also worked at several area ranches and was an outfitter for hunters.
At the age of 16, he met the love of his life Wanda Irene Peckham in Dubois. They married on July 6, 1953. To this union, three sons were born, Jim, Ferlin and Dale.
With his family, he moved from town to town working for PKS (Peter Kiewit and Sons) building bridges. In 1970, the family settled in Kaycee where Bob and Wanda owned and operated Harris Trailer Court while Bob worked for Key Trucking and then Kaycee Bentonite. In November 1979, they moved to Lovell where Bob worked for WyoBen, Baroid and Dude’s Restaurant, where he made the best pizza in town.
In 1993, he found the job of his dreams working for The National Park Service until he retired in 1998. He loved the outdoors, hunting, boating and fishing. He was a great fisherman from fly fishing to deep sea fishing.
He was a life member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and would travel to banquets all over the state and would win something wherever he went. He also enjoyed going to the RMEF elk camps in Reno, Nev., and Texas with his family and friends. He enjoyed going to Cow Town for coffee with the “boys” but loved spending time with his family and friends most of all.
He is loved and will be greatly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
Bob is survived by his sons, Jim (Dana) of Lovell, Ferlin (Tammy) of Gillette and Dale (Jolene) of Gillette; grandchildren, Keith of Lovell, Ted of Laramie, Dan (Michelle) of Lovell, Jason (Amber), Aubrey, Charlie, Gabe and Isabella, all of Gillette, Amanda of Laramie and Zachary of Gillette; brothers, Dee and Skeeter (Bill) of Washington, Arkie (Gerald) and Jim of Idaho; sisters, Edrie of Washington and Donna Jo of Utah; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Also, good friends, Jackie and Gary Miller, Mike Schwope and Jim Haar.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda of 49 years, his parents, Herbert and Roxie, grandson, Joshua and 11 brothers and sisters.
