Rodney Louis “Rod” McQueary, 61, of Recluse, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center.
Mr. McQueary was born July 16, 1951, in Elko, Nev.
He was a rancher and a poet. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Wallis, whom he married in July of 1994 in Starr Valley, Nev.; his children, Porter, Cecile, Ian and Justine McQueary; his stepchildren, Isaac Wallis, Megan Kruse and Rys Martin; his mother, Eloise McQueary; two brothers, Lyle and Neil McQueary; and three grandchildren.
Mr. McQueary was preceded in death by his father, Howard McQueary.
Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Western Folklife Center in Elko, Nev.
