Ronnie L. Ary, 73, a longtime resident of Gillette, passed away on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at his daughter’s home in Colorado Springs, Colo., surrounded by his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend and was a self-employed entrepreneur who owned and operated Ron’s Welding among other businesses including a roustabout, water line and excavating service. He excavated many of the basements in the Heritage, Foot Hills and Westridge subdivisions.
Ronnie Leon Ary was born on Aug. 1, 1939, in Gould, Colo., to the late Lehman and Olive (Warden) Ary. He was a 1957 graduate of Ridgeway High School in Ridgeway, Colo. He attended college in Durango and Greeley, Colo., and also graduated from welding school in Spokane, Wash. Ron was a member of the Masonic Lodge AF&AM of Sheridan and Gillette and the Shrine Temple.
He married Jacqueline L. Potter on Dec. 20, 1960, in Fort Collins, Colo. In the first three years of marriage they lived in six different states, finally settling in Wyoming. They moved to Gillette in 1969. In 1989, Ronnie went to work at Cordero Coal Mine in maintenance. Ronnie retired from Cordero in 1999.
Together, Ronnie and Jacquie traveled in all 50 states plus Canada, Australia and Mexico with family and friends making many wonderful memories. Ronnie enjoyed playing cards, camping, vacations to the beach, working in his shop, his daughters’ and grandsons’ achievements, and mostly spending time with his family and many dear friends.
He is survived by his wife, Jacquie Ary of Gillette; his daughters, Stacy Hobbs of Gillette and Shawn (Kevin) Sanger of Colorado Springs, Colo. Ron is also survived by a brother, Leo Ary of Sheridan; and his two sisters, Eva Jean Cloyd of Mesa, Ariz., and Reva June Floresheim of Albuquerque, N.M., as well as his large extended family, many of which visited Ronnie in the past month. He has two grandsons, Dylan Christensen Sanger and Brandon Ary Sanger.
Ronnie will be best remembered for his smile, his wonderful sense of humor, and his loyalty to his family.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at the Family Life Church, 480 South Highway 50, Gillette, Wyoming 82718. A reception will follow the services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ronnie’s name may be made to the Campbell County Senior Center, 701 Stocktrail Avenue, Gillette, Wyoming 82716.
