SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Senate has approved a proposal to create a license plate bearing an American flag and the motto “In God We Trust.”
Originally, the bill would have drivers pay $25 a year to display the design, and proceeds would support the Provo-based America’s Freedom Festival.
One of the bill’s sponsors, Sen. Todd Weiler, R-Woods Cross, changed the proposal earlier in the week to drop the donation and any collection of funds after receiving complaints from other organizations that wanted a chance to earn the money.
