CASPER — Casper residents likely won’t get a chance to weigh in on whether to repeal or change the city’s smoking until at least next month.
Councilors discussed proposed changes Tuesday night and then forwarded them to the city attorney for review.
Mayor Kenyne (Ka-NEEN’) Schlager said Wednesday that councilors want to discuss the changes one more time after hearing back from the attorney. She said that would mean a public hearing on a formal proposal probably wouldn’t happen until the first or second week of April as long as budget sessions don’t prevent that.
Smoking ban supporters have vowed to seek a referendum if councilors vote to repeal the ban on smoking in bars, restaurants, offices and other public spaces.
