Big Horns
Powder River Ranger District
The area has received 6 to 8 inches of new snow on the west side of the mountain near Buffalo. Spokeswoman Cliff Sharp is reporting another foot is expected on Saturday. “We’re getting most of our snow on the west side of the mountains out of Buffalo, on the Ten Sleep side,” he said. “There’s quite a bit of snow over there, more than the East side.“ Cross country skiers are also enjoying the benefits of the recent storm.
Bighorn National Forest officials also reminded snowmobilers that their machines, like all motorized equipment, are illegal in wilderness areas, including the Cloud Peak Wilderness.
Wilderness manager Craig Cope said Bighorn National Forest winter patrollers have noticed several snowmobile intrusions into Cloud Peak.
Bear Lodge
Eight to 10 inches of new snow has fallen at the lodge on Highway 14-A at Burgess Junction. Spokesman Rick Young is reporting great snow conditions with more snow expected. Weather forecasts are calling for snow on Saturday with an accumulation of 5 to 6 inches and more in the high country. Additional snow is expected Sunday.
The Hideout at Flitner Ranch/Snowshoe Lodge
The recent storm produced 12 inches of new snow. Spokesman Jimmy Lichlyter is reporting a two-to-six foot base on the trails. The area, located 20 minutes from Antelope Butte ski area, offers 180 miles of groomed snowmobile trails. “A lot of people head up to Battle Park. Anywhere you go is awesome,” Lichlyter said. “There’s not one specific spot that people go to. They take the trails and whenever they see a patch of powder, they hit it.” The area is expecting another 12 inches of snow over the weekend.
Black Hills
Northern Hills Ranger District
The Black Hills received 4 to 5 inches of new snow earlier in the week, Last week, 15 inches of snow fell. Specialist Bonnie Jones is reporting excellent conditions for both snowmobiling and cross country skiing in Trail Head area. “One area that doesn’t get a lot of traffic is the Bear Lodge, north of Sundance. A lot of people like to enter at the Rueter Campground and head up to Warren Peak,” she said. The entrance is the D Trail, two miles out of Sundance on Highway 14.

Meadowlark Ski Lodge
Snow: Powder and machine-groomed conditions, with a base of 33 to 36 inches of snow.
What’s open: All 14 trails and both lifts.
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday through Sunday.
Hogadon
Snow: Powder and machine-groomed conditions with a base of 20 to 25 inches. The area received an estimated 5-to-8 inches of new snow this past week.
What’s open: Twelve of 24 runs and two of three lifts.
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.
South Dakota
Mystic Miner Ski Resort
Snow: Powder and machine-groomed conditions with a base of 18 to 26 inches of snow. Five to six inches of new snow.
What’s open: All runs serviced by chairlift on the front side.
Hours: 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Friday, and 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Deer Mountain.
Terry Peak
Snow: Packed powder and machine-groomed snow with a base of 20 to 28 inches.
What’s open: 28 of 30 trails and four of five lifts.
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
