CHEYENNE — A bill that would have increased state worker retirement contributions has died after lawmakers were unable to find a compromise on the two versions that passed the House and Senate earlier in the session.
Both versions called for a 1 percent increase in the contributions over the next two years.
But the House’s plan required that the state pick up the tab for the entire amount. The Senate’s amended bill would have had the state and employees each pick up half of the hike.
Three lawmakers from each chamber met Thursday in a conference committee to see if they could reconcile the differences.
