SALT LAKE CITY — Utah athletic officials say the football series between longtime rivals Brigham Young and Utah will be suspended for two seasons.
Utah Athletic Director Chris Hill announced Tuesday that the schools will play each other in football in 2013 and 2016 but not in 2014 or 2015.
Utah’s decision to join the Pac-12 Conference set the wheels in motion and Hill says a home-and-home series with Michigan sealed the deal.
Utah will play in Ann Arbor on Sept. 20, 2014, and the Wolverines will make their first-ever appearance in Rice-Eccles Stadium in the 2015 season opener on Sept. 3.
Hill says he intends to schedule BYU in the future unless circumstances dictate otherwise. He refused to call the brief interruption the end of a rivalry.
