WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama is leading the tributes to former Democratic Sen. Daniel Inouye (ih-NOH'-way) at a memorial service at Washington National Cathedral.

The Hawaii lawmaker was the second-longest serving senator in U.S. history. He died Monday of respiratory complications at age 88.

It is the second day of memorials for Inouye. On Thursday, he became just the 31st person to lie in state in the Capitol rotunda.

Scores of former colleagues are in attendance at the service, as well as former President Bill Clinton.

Inouye is being remembered for his military service in World War II, for which he received the Medal of Honor, and for his 50-plus years in Congress.

Inouye's body will be flown to Hawaii on Saturday.
