Wine and character auction a chance to get your name in the book?

A lot of people probably tell stories about you, but not many of us get to see our names put in novels.
Wyoming author Craig Johnson will auction off the name of a character in his next book to the highest bidder at the Wine Festival and Character Auction at 6 p.m. Friday in the Clarion Inn & Convention Center.
Tickets are $25 each and are available at the Campbell County Public Library, the Wright Library or through Gillette City Hall.
Whoever wins the auction will get to decide whether to attach his or her name to a hero or a villain — or whether they have another name in mind to play a part.
Johnson’s body of work includes eight mysteries within the “Longmire” series, which has become an A&E television series of the same name.
His most recent work is “The Dark Horse.”
The Campbell County Public Library and Pearls of the Prairie are co-hosting the event with the proceeds going to the Library Foundation Endowment Challenge Fund for Campbell County Public Libraries. The winning bid actually pays double to the fund, due to a Wyoming Libraries Endowment Challenge, which will match the amount of money from the high bid.
However much the name is auctioned for, the Wyoming Libraries Endowment Challenge will double the amount of money that comes in.
The money also goes to Pearls of the Prairie, which supports local artists and their patrons.
