CASPER — Democratic U.S. House candidate Chris Henrichsen has let go his paid staff so he can afford to buy campaign signs and gas.
Henrichsen won an uncontested primary election last week in a bid to unseat Republican incumbent U.S. Rep. Cynthia Lummis.
The weekend before the Aug. 21 primary, Henrichsen had to let go his campaign manager because he couldn’t afford to pay the salary.
He also has not replaced a paid intern who left for college.
Henrichsen tells the Casper Star-Tribune that he has raised about $18,000 and spent almost all of it.
Lummis has raised about $500,000 in her bid for a third term.
Henrichsen is a Casper College political science teacher.
