CASPER — A legislative committee is supporting a bill that would allow nuclear waste storage in Wyoming.
Under the proposed legislation, the waste would have to come from a nuclear plant located in the state. Wyoming doesn’t currently have any nuclear power plants.
The Joint Minerals, Business and Economic Development Committee voted unanimously in Casper on Wednesday to support the bill.
Committee members say the amount of waste stored at the site would vary with the amount of waste generated at the facility.
