Wyo. voter ID bill pulled from consideration

Posted 1/30/13

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A proposal requiring Wyoming voters to show a valid photo identification card to cast their ballot has been pulled from consideration at the state Capitol.

The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports that the bill failed to get out of a Senate committee on Tuesday.

The sponsor of the bill, Republican state Sen. Ogden Driskill of Devils Tower, said the proposal needs more work.

The League of Women Voters opposed the bill, arguing that there's little evidence of voter fraud in the state.

Currently, voters must show identification when they register to vote but not when they vote.
