CHEYENNE — A pharmaceutical company has agreed to pay Wyoming and 35 other states a total of $181 million to settle allegations of “off-label marketing” of a prescription drug.
Senior assistant attorney general Liz Gagen says Wyoming will receive $2.5 million of the settlement involving Janssen Pharmaceuticals Inc., a Johnson and Johnson company. According to a statement from Janssen, the settlement is not an admission of wrongdoing.
The states accused Janssen of promoting Risperdal, which is used to treat schizophrenia and other mental illnesses, for non-approved uses that include dementia, anger management and anxiety.
