Wyoming legislative leaders discuss session

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Several Wyoming legislative leaders decried what they said were rude and threatening tactics by supporters of gun rights bills in the legislative session that wrapped up this week.
Speaking Thursday at the Wyoming Capitol in Cheyenne, Senate President Tony Ross said the Legislature is under attack. He said some lawmakers and their families had received death threats.
Senate Majority Floor Leader Phil Nicholas, a Laramie Republican, decided in the closing days of the session not to bring up a bill that would have tried to specify that any federal ban on assault weapons or high-capacity magazines wouldn't apply in Wyoming. He blamed lobbying tactics by the Wyoming Gun Owners Association.
Anthony Bouchard, head of the association, says the lawmakers' criticism sounds like a lot of grumbling without any proof.
