Gillette College saddle bronc rider Carter Elshere, of Elm Springs, South Dakota, sits in fourth place in the average standings going into Saturday’s short go-round of the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper.

The sophomore has seen plenty of rodeo in Gillette, most recently as a Pronghorn and before that as a high school rider in the National High School Finals Rodeo.

After three go-rounds at the College National Finals Rodeo, Gillette College sophomore Carter Elshere is fourth in the saddle bronc average with 219.5 points.

“Right now he’s first, but there’s some more rodeo to go,” rodeo coach Will LaDuke said after Elshere’s ride. “But I think he’s going to get a pretty good shot at it come Saturday night.”
