Three Campbell County School District transportation employees retire after 40 years

Three women, 40 years, more than 1 million miles driven.

That’s not a shared number, which would still be more than an impressive 333,000 miles driven by each on behalf of the Campbell County School District in service of its students, but rather each of them — Donna Baughman, Sharon Evans and Evelyn Hendricks — drove more than 1 million miles along bus routes in Gillette, rural routes in the county and activities trips that traversed the state. After four decades, they earned more than a mere pit stop. On the same day the school year ended last week, so too did their careers as they began retirement.

Donna Baughman

Donna Baughman finished her 41-year career as a full-time activities driver with the Campbell County School District at the conclusion of the school year.

Evelyn Hendricks

Evelyn Hendricks reflects on her 41 years of service as a bus driver for rural routes in the northern part of Campbell County near Recluse on Thursday morning at the Campbell County School District’s bus barn.

Sharon Evans

Sharon Evans spent 20 years of her career of driving buses before moving into the role of dispatcher for another 23 years until her retirement at the end of this school year.
