School was far past being in session but at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, the sounds of string, horn and woodwind instruments could be heard practicing melodies and accompaniments in the Twin Spruce Junior High band room.

From local high school students to the more seasoned musicians, everyone within the room’s doors were only days away from the second performance of their season: “Pillars of the Romantic Era.”

We are looking forward to another performance of our Powder River Symphony. Many thanks to all the dedicated musicians who put in many hours of practice.

Excellent performance by dedicated and experienced musicians indeed. Mrs. Carolyn Mathews was such a poised, energetic, and talented conductor. She is very graceful as well, I hope the Symphony will consider hiring her as a permanent conductor.
