Two pathologists, who also happened to be the prosecution’s final witnesses in the first-degree murder trial of Joseph Nielsen, 22, said Tuesday that the death of 3-year-old Caiden Fedora was not an accident.

After six days of testimony from 28 witnesses, dozens of photographs and nearly two hours of body cam footage, the prosecution rested Tuesday afternoon, believing it had presented the jury with enough evidence to find Nielsen guilty of killing Caiden, the son of his then-girlfriend, while the boy was in Nielsen’s care in August 2016.
