The defense attorney for a Gillette man charged with aggravated vehicular homicide in the death of a teen boy said the man’s pickup lost control because his daughter fell on the accelerator, leading to a fatal accident.

Matthew J. Coleman, 38, is charged with aggravated vehicular homicide either by driving while under the influence or driving recklessly. Opening arguments were made Monday afternoon before District Judge Stuart S. Healy III and a jury.
