Schoooooools out...for...SNOW

Willie Kannapel, head custodian at Twin Spruce Junior High School, shovels snow off the steps in front of the school Tuesday morning. Kannapel was at the school at 5 a.m. just in case school was to be in session. At about 7:30 a.m., classes were canceled.

More than 8,800 students, staff and teachers in the Campbell County School District had a snow day Tuesday as high winds and snow created hazardous driving conditions and closed roads into and out of Gillette.

Superintendent Alex Ayers announced the closure — the first one this school year — at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.
