Ice Arena Supervisor Fred Neugebauer assembles equipment to prepare the floor for ice at the Campbell County Ice Arena Tuesday afternoon. His hope is to get ice in the arena by next week after a leak at Spirit Hall’s arena will keep it from opening at least a month.

The Spirit Hall Ice Arena will be closed for at least a month after Parks and Recreation discovered a leak in the rink’s cooling system.

Campbell County Parks Superintendent Kevin Geer said he and his staff had been getting the ice rink ready for the upcoming season. Everything worked fine last Friday, but some time between Saturday night and Sunday morning, there was a leak.
