Blessings in a Backpack handed out its final bags of food for the school year last month, bringing its total to 27,397 bags for students to take home over weekends during 2019-20.

Elly Henning and Jenn Palmer are the co-coordinators of the national program’s local chapter that started in 2012 and is now the 10th largest in the country in students served. Henning said the bags go to students in “pretty much every single school but one rural school” in the Campbell County School District and Moorcroft.
