Farmers Markets

John Thompson sells jars of his chicken green chili at the farmers market on Aug. 29, 2015, outside the Gillette College Technical Education Center. Agents with the U.S. Department of Agriculture forced Thompson to throw away his products Tuesday during the Lakeway Farmers Market saying he was violating the law.

John Thompson had been selling his green chili at the Lakeway Farmers Market on Tuesday afternoon for about an hour when he asked some passers-by if they wanted to try his green chili.

What happened next left Thompson “astounded” when he was forced to dump his sealed cans of chili that warm afternoon.
