Gillette has rebounded more than 60 degrees — without considering wind chill — from last Thursday through this Thursday. Last week, the official temperature readings dropped even further, into the minus 50s, when factoring in the wind.
The expected high of 35 degrees Thursday is 62 degrees warmer than the minus 27 degrees officially recorded Dec. 22 in Gillette.
On January 9th, 41 years ago, my wife Dianne and I had our reception @ the Holiday Inn in Gillette. At the time the building was sorely needed as a place for community and business to meet and discuss. Its pool, sauna and spa were welcomed by the community on top of the badly needed rooms and meeting areas. But the outside doors did not have a set of buffer doors. It was minus 22 degree for our wedding day. As guests walked into the lobby for the reception, they were greeted as if they were runway models complete with fog. 650 at the wedding, 1100 at the reception! What a night!!!!
