743-acre fire Tuesday

A 743-acre fire spread off of Highway 387 Tuesday afternoon after sparks from a blown tire passing by ignited the roadside grass.

The National Weather Service has put a fire watch in effect for Thursday, as high winds and low humidity portend an early and active wildland fire season this year.

The fire watch runs from Thursday morning through Thursday evening for Campbell, Crook and Weston counties, according to a press release from the National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota.
