CRYSTAL NELISSE, 47, has been charged in Circuit Court with abuse of a vulnerable adult after she allegedly bruised a dementia patient at the Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center on July 1, 2019. Nelisse was a traveling CNA who had been working there four months when another CNA asked for help with a combative patient. The woman was startled when she first saw Nelisse as they were tucking her into bed and swung at her. Nelisse reportedly responded by “slamming” her down on the bed by her upper arms and shoulders, leaving bruises later noted by a doctor. She then climbed halfway onto the bed and pinned her down forcefully by her upper arms while yelling at her, “Not tonight.” A few minutes later, she came back into the room, grabbed the sheet by the woman’s neck and shoulders and pinned her to the bed with the sheet, again repeating that, “We’re not going to do this tonight.” The other CNA said the second attack was completely unprovoked, according to court documents. The incident was reported, Nelisse gave conflicting statements and was fired, according to an affidavit.
