CAMPBELL COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE: An 18-year-old suspect in an eluding incident turned himself in Friday night and faces a number of charges. On Aug. 28, Matthew Engel was driving a black Dodge pickup and led deputies on a chase that reached speeds of 120 mph. Deputies tried to pull him over for swerving, but he took off through town. He eventually came to a stop and ran away, but he left his wallet in the truck. Sheriff’s Cpl. Dan Maul said Engel came to the Sheriff’s Office lobby Friday night and turned himself in. Engel is charged with felony eluding, underage drinking, reckless driving, reckless endangering, interference with an officer, driving under suspension and two counts of probation revocation.
